Frequently asked

Common questions about the CSSE 11+.

About the exam

The Consortium of Selective Schools in Essex (CSSE) 11+ is a shared entrance examination taken by Year 6 pupils each September for entry to KEGS, CCHS, CRGS, CCHSG and other Essex grammar schools.

Most families begin focused preparation in Year 4 or early Year 5. Twelve to eighteen months of regular practice is typical for top-school targets.

We recommend three 30–45 minute sessions per week. Shorter, regular practice is far more effective than weekend marathons.

Preparing

Our Maths content overlaps significantly with SET requirements, though our exam-mode timings and styling target the CSSE paper specifically.
